2012-13 NBA Preview: Milwaukee Bucks
- Updated: October 14, 2012
8. Milwaukee Bucks
HOW THEY CAN WIN: The Bucks boast a dynamic backcourt in guards Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis, both of whom can go off for 50 at any time. The frontcourt is ridiculously deep, with Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Joel Przybilla, Larry Sanders, John Henson, Drew Gooden, Ersan Ilyasova and Ekpe Udoh all capable of earning crunch-time minutes. If Milwaukee can find offensive harmony, it could be a surprise team.
WHY THEY WON’T: It’s yet to be seen if a Jennings-Ellis backcourt can work. “Machine Gun” Monta is a defensive liability at the 2-guard and can disrupt the flow of an offense with his grip-it-and-rip -it style. Neither guard compliments one another at this point in their careers.
FINAL DESTINATION: It’s up to Jennings to make this team hum offensively. If he can allocate the shots, score when he has to, and keep Ellis happy, he’ll lead this team to the playoffs. There’s a ton of size and just enough scoring for the Bucks to be dangerous come playoff time.
OUR CALL: 43-39. The Bucks will push past the Raptors, Magic, and Bulls and reach the postseason.
