6-0 Knicks earn statement win in San Antonio

It’s not often that words such as “infallible,” “prolific,” and “precocious” are thrown out there to describe a basketball team. Most teams go countless years without anyone mentioning their continuity and cohesion.
And vociferousness? Forget about it!
But when the Knicks stormed back from 12 points down with 7 minutes left to take down the vaunted Spurs in San Antonio on Thursday night, no one could hold back their syllables.
I mean, how can you refrain from describing such bodacious basketball, especially when it seemed to sublimate out of thin air?
The Knicks owned the fourth quarter in a 104-100 win, their sixth straight to open the season. New York is 6-0 for the first time since 1993-94, and just the second time ever.
According to the color announcer, the keys to the game were the Knicks’ dishing and swishing, copious amounts of driving and thriving, and an ability to overcome futility at the free throw line.
Tyson Chandler was prolific. Jason Kidd was precocious. Raymond Felton was even infallible.
Who knew, Raymond Felton could be infallible?
Felton scored a game-high 25 points and dished out 7 assists in the Knicks’ most incredible win of the season thus far.
New York dominated the final few minutes, taking the lead on a J.R. Smith three with 1:50 to go.
Smith had 17 points on the night.
Moments later, Jason Kidd knocked down a triple to give the Knicks a 100-95 lead and virtually seal the deal.
It was splendiferous.
And the Knicks did all this on a night in which Carmelo Anthony shot just 3-for-12 from the field and scored only 9 points. Anthony did lead the team with 12 rebounds.
Tony Parker led the Spurs (7-2) with 19 points and 12 assists. Tim Duncan put up 14 points and 14 rebounds.
