The Golden State Warriors are 29-1 since Klay Thompson signed a toaster in March

Perhaps the most underrated subplot two games into the 2017 NBA Finals is the Golden State Warriors are 29-1 since Klay Thompson signed a fan’s toaster on March 13.

Golden State’s lone loss during the 30-game span came against the Utah Jazz on April 10 near the end of the regular season. Thompson did not play in the contest.

Thompson said he’d gladly buy the entire Warriors roster a toaster if the team finished the playoffs 16-0.

In March, Thompson signed Ronnie Reyes’ toaster at an autograph event in San Francisco.

Reyes’ Twitter account @R_Dollaz serves as an online shrine to the autographed toaster.

Furthermore, Thompson’s father believes Warriors season ticket holders should receive a free toaster as a reward if Golden State wins this year’s NBA Finals.

To put Thompson’s toaster-signing streak in full perspective, the Cavaliers are 24-18 since Kyrie Irving declared his belief that the Earth is flat on the “Road Trippin’” podcast on Feb. 17.

No team in NBA history has gone through an entire playoffs undefeated. The Warriors are two games away as the series shifts back to Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena for Game 3 on Wednesday night.
