17. Florida Gators

WHY THEY’RE SCARY: Kenny Boynton (15.9 ppg, 2.7 apg) is back for his senior year after helping the Gators to two consecutive Elite Eight appearances. Fellow former McDonald’s All-American Mike Rosario should help with the scoring load, and 6-9 forward Patric Young appears to be one of the SEC’s best big men. Throw in big-time recruits in Michael Frazier II and Braxton Ogbueze, and sharpshooter Erik Murphy, and the Gators have plenty of weapons to choose from.

WHAT SCARES US: Bradley Beal (14.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg) was a big reason why the Gators reached the Elite Eight last season, and point guard Erving Walker was a steadying presence in the backcourt and a true team leader. Losing both means that the Gators will probably take a step back this season.

FINAL DESTINATION: There is enough talent here for the Gators to make another deep run in the NCAA Tournament. The front line has plenty of depth, so it’s going to be up to Boynton, Rosario and the rest of the guards to get them back into the Final Four conversation.
