Valparaiso, Belmont win on championship week buzzer-beaters

Top-seeded Valparaiso was about to be upset by Wisconsin-Green Bay. They were down by two, with just seconds to play in the Horizon League semifinals, facing elimination and a long summer thinking about how they had let a chance to get to the NCAAs slip away for a second straight year. Then, Ryan Broekhoff raced down the court and did this:
Amazing. The best part may have been head coach Bryce Drew, who hit a famous buzzer beater of his own at Valpo, falling onto his back by the scorer’s table after Broekhoff’s shot went down. That’s how Broekhoff won Horizon League Player of the Year honors.
Belmont’s Kerron Johnson knocked down two buzzer beaters, both from the free throw line. The first kept the Bruins’ season alive by pushing them into overtime with Murray State, and the second sent them to the Big Dance. This is the second one:
