Social media reaction to Kevin Durant signing with the Golden State Warriors
- Updated: July 4, 2016
Kevin Durant announced Monday he will sign with the Golden State Warriors.
The contract is a two-year, $54 million deal with a player option for a second year.
Durant made the announcement in a post to The Players’ Tribune.
The 2012 MVP and seven-time All-Star spent his first nine seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder (he spent one of those seasons playing for the now defunct Seattle SuperSonics).
Here’s a look at the social media reaction to Durant’s signing.
Some of the familiar media types weighed in:
Warriors just need a defensive rebounder. No need for offensive rebounding — there aren’t going to be any.

I don’t blame KD for picking GSW but this will become the most belatedly retweeted NBA tweet ever. https://t.co/F3crZAMTxK

Don’t give a damn what anyone says: weak move by KD. You go to GSW, the team who beat you, when you’re already on a title contender? Please!

Can’t bash Kevin Durant for this. The guy put winning above everything else. Including his ego.
